I said, Grandpa what's this picture here
It's all black and white and ain't real clear
Is that you he said, yeah I was eleven
Times were tough back in thirty-five
That's me and Uncle Joe just tryin' to survive
A cotton farm in the Great Depression
And if it looks
Like we were scared to death
Like a couple of kids
Just trying to save each other
You should have seen it in color
This one here
Was taken overseas
In the middle of hell
In nineteen forty-three
In the winter time
You can almost see my breath
That was my tail gunner
Ole' Johnny McGee
He was a high school teacher
From New Orleans
And he had my back right
Through the day we left [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/j/jamey_johnson/in_color.html ]
And if it looks
Like we were scared to death
Like a couple of kids
Just trying to save each other
You should have seen it in color
A picture's worth a thousand words
But you can't see what those shades
Of gray keep covered
You should have seen it in color
This one is my favorite one
It's me and grandma in the summer sun
All dressed up the day we said our vows
You can't tell it here
But it was hot that June
That rose was red and her eyes were blue
And just look at that smile I was so proud
That's the story of m life
Right there in black and white
And if it looks
Like we were scared to death
Like a couple of kids
Just trying to save each other
You should have seen it in color
A picture's worth a thousand words
But you can't see what those shades
Of gray keep covered
You should have seen it in color
It takes me back to when i was young, looking at my mom & dads photo albums - & pictures of dad when he was stationed in korea as a paratrooper... Now my son is in the service, followed his dad's & grend-dads. Now he asks about the photos i grew up with. Thank you, jamey!

I love this song, his voice is amazing. I like it when he says eleven. :) this also tells you that you should look back every once in a while to just remember things. Good or bad, it happened for a reason.
This is me and my boyfriends song.. At first when he chose this song i wondered why but then i really listened to it and figured it out.. We have to keep our relationship a secret so we have to stick by each other through the good times and the bad and even though we are having a tough time we still love each other and that's what this song is about to me.. Never giving up on things you care about even if everything is going wrong
