Inxs – Mystify lyrics

All veils and misty
Streets of blue
Almond looks
That chill divine
Some silken moment
Goes on forever
And we're leaving broken hearts behind

Mystify
Mystify me
Mystify
Mystify me

I need perfection
Some twisted selection
That tangles me
To keep me alive

In all that exists
None have your beauty
I see your face
I will survive

Eternally wild with the power
To make every moment come alive
All those stars that shine upon you
Will kiss you every night

All veils and misty
Streets of blue
Almond looks
That chill divine
Some silken moment
Goes on forever
And we're leaving
Yeah we're leaving broken hearts behind

You're eternally wild with the power
To make every moment come alive
All those stars that shine upon you
And they'll kiss you every night

This tune is tough. Seems pretty disconnected, but Hutchence and Fariss were unique guys. The only stanza I think I can get a bite on is the second stanza where they mention the need for perfection. Here's my take: When I was on the prowl as a young stallion I would always crawl a mile for the Beautiful girl. Even if she treats you like s**t, you are still going for it perhaps walking away from the one that genuinely cares for you and thus would be a much better selection in the long run. All this based on beauty. The girl who treats you like a king may not be the stunner, but is a better choice. I know Hutchence had his pick of the litter, so I'm also certain that he was dragging home some trophies. I can only imagine. However, like all of us who have gauge our own value on the level of beauty you can attract, and control. Yes it's terribly flawed, but do you think Hutchence was healthy psychologically speaking? Look how he died. Enough said. Some of us have issues with our self worth, and equate our value as people with having the thing everyone else wants. It's control related. This line of thought is incorporated into our selection process for partners in intimacy. That's my theory. Read the lyrics in that second stanza. I wish I could get the straight on what this song is about, it certainly is a powerful song. I love it.
