Mama please don’t go
Won’t you stay here for one more day
I’ve been your boy for so long now
There’s so much I, I still have to say
Sky rips open, and I held my heart in my hand
Like a soldier on his very last day
Cried myself to sleep that night, and I listened
As I heard the angels sing
Chorus:
Sha la la la Sha la la la, I’m going home.
Sha la la la Sha la la la, I’m going home.
Something inside makes me scream
How could God take you from a little boy
He’ll be alright, he’s by my side
He’s not a little boy, he’s my pride and joy
Repeat chorus
Summer on the radio and the phone rings
And it was Jeanette
She said boy we had to let her go
I begged her no, no not yet
You left six of us to fend for ourselves
I guess it’s part of someone’s master plan
We'll see you laughing, you’re my best friend
You’re the light of the lamb, and I cried
as the angels sing
Repeat chorus twice [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/h/hootie_and_the_blowfish/im_going_home.html ]
My mother passed away and the last time i seen her was when i was heading out the door and i looked back and she was leaning on the table and last words i said to her is that i hope you get some sleep tonight and feel better... She died around midnight after i taked to her on the phone and my mother was my best friend and i miss her so dearly... This song played the first day i went back to work and i was like she was telling me that she's ok she's going home... I change the words a bit because i'm her daughter and there was 7 of us kids but this song helped me... I listen to it everynight almost...
