(B. Scott - B. Russell)

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there

For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

If I'm laden at all
THEN I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share

And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

awwww....words to live by...If I'm laden at all.
    THEN I'm laden with sadness.
    That everyone's heart.
    Isn't filled with the gladness.
    Of love for one another.

Remembering when this song was written, it means that we're all brothers here on earth, no creed, color or natioalitymakes a difference in that. If someone gets into trouble, you carry them for a while. It's not a burden, it's our duty as human beings.

To me a lot of this song now reflects the state of war so many countries are in today, with British troops who really have no reason to be fighting and dying in the atrocities, we are all brothers, and the British would not leave a dying soldier just to die where he fell they would carry him to safety because 'He ain't heavy he's my brother', 'So on we go', so many of the words are so relevant for today.
