It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
It's just the nearness of you

It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
It's just the nearness of you

When you're in my arms and I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams come true

I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night the nearness of you

In my estimation, this is the ultimate love song. It has always been since I was very young. My husband just passed away and he was my 65 year love affair. I plan to, end the memorial for him with this beautiful, song which I, always knew, was, written by Hoagy. I have always wondered what came first, the lyrics or the music. The, lyrics, if you listen to them can't be surpassed for a love song. They say it all. I am so, sorry that we no longer have people writing music like this. People always fall in love, no matter what generation. I heard The Nearness Of You when I. Was ten years old in Huntington Beach, ny. I fell in love with it then. Anne.
