Down the way where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship
And when I reached Jamaica I made a stop

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Sounds of laughter everywhere
And the dancing girls swaying to and fro
I must declare my heart is there
Though I've been from Maine to Mexico
But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Down at the market you can hear
Ladies cry out while on their heads they bear
`Akey' rice, salt fish are nice
And the rum is fine any time of year

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Down the way where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship
And when I reached Jamaica I made a stop

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Thanks Morris. It is a very nice place. I think I can explore for myself. It is the home town of Bob Marley.

Upul Ranaweera make the best of your time in Kingston. I have no doubt it is one of the most interesting places on earth and full of music talents and history and interesting people too.

Old time favorite. Little I knew when I listened to this some over the SLBC in late 70s that I would be in Kingston one day.

It transcends me into some other world.. I can see the pix of my hometown, though which is not in carribean islands.. But still the description is quite similar... I am away from my home for job, dont know when will i return

Its really marvelous. Reminds me of my college days when we used to sing this song in chorus in our canteen. Oh! Those lovely words, "my heart is down, my head is turning around". I've also heard a bengali version of this song :
