I realize the screaming pain
Hearing loud in my brain
But I'm going straight ahead with the scar

Can You Hear Me
Can You Hear Me
Can You Hear Me (So am I)

Wasurete shimae baii yo kanji nakunacchaewaii
Surimui ta kokoro ni futao shitanda

Kizutsui tatte heikidayo mou itami wa nai kara ne
Sono ashiro hikizuri nagara mou wo

Mirushinatta jibun jishin na
Oto wo tatete kuzureteitta
Kizukeba kaze no oto dake ka

Tsutae nikitayo kisuato tadokke
Sekai ni oshi tsufu sarete shimau mae ni
Oboeteru kara namida no sora o
Ano itami ga kimi no koto o mamotte kereta
Sono itami ga itsumo kimi o mamotterunda

Can You Hear Me? (So am I)

I like to interpret this as the message from somebody who has recently passed on to his still living significant and loved ones. He's telling them that it might be sad, even painful, to remember to him, possibly because of things that he regrets having done to them whilst he was alive.

But, because his loved ones remember him through this pain or sadness, he is kept alive by his loved ones in their memory. Even though he's dead and gone, because you remember him, he watches over you, and so that 'pain', the painful memory (which might simply be the memory of his passing) protects you. In other words, he is still protecting his loved ones.

It's also possible to interpret the lyrics to mean that those painful memories inflicted upon the significant person of the singer gave them strength. In other words, painful experiences are not to be forgotten. A person grows up and matures through experiencing hardship, through trials and tribulations, and becomes stronger through them. Therefore, the painful memory helps to protect the significant individual by making them a person better able to survive what life throws at him.

Overall, I think the message is to not forget painful experiences, and to turn them into strength. That strength could be accepting that somebody has passed on and letting that person to live through you by remembering the lessons you learned from them; or it could be emotional maturity.

This song is a tribute to jiriaya... I wish if he was alive, seeing his child of prophecy defeat pain. The scene of the killing of jiraiya was very cold... I felt very angry because of tht
