You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate
Over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate
Over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

My black eye casts no shadow
Your red eye sees no pain
Your slaps don't stick
Your kicks don't hit
So we remain the same
Blood sticks, sweat drips
Break the lock if it don't fit
A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none
A-woah a kiss with a fist is better than none

Broke your jaw once before spilt your blood upon the floor
You broke my leg in return
Sit back and watch the bed burn
Well love sticks, sweat drips
Break the lock if it don't fit
A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none
A-woah a kiss woth a fist is better than none

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

I would say woman can give as good as they get!! And that two people love eachother dearly but have these physical fights but are about the some strength

I think the important lines are:
"my black eye casts no shadow, your red eye sees no pain.. Your slaps don't stick, your kicks dont hit so we remain the same.. "
i think its nonsensical fighting that couples do- they say things that hurt but it doesn't stick and then its makeup time... Sounds like their vicious circle.

I might be wrong but I think "set fire to our bed" is a reference to the movie The Burning Bed- it is about a wife than burns her abusive husband to death in their marriage bed. Which is symbolic of course.

The song sounds almost jovial, like there's nothing really going on with her and her partner... They physically abuse each other, and yet I wont pretend to think that the abuse is actually physical. Maybe a game of tit for tat? Scratch my back I scratch yours, Claw my eyes out and I'll claw yours...

They're involved in this struggle against each other, while wanting to end the pain they still want each other. They contribute to their own undoing.

"Then I set fire to our bed"
This line is significant ... so much that the intepretation depends on the person listening to the song. The bed might be the relationship, and yet the fire might not be fire in itself but passion... This could constitute making love after a violent battle :)

    That's my interpretation!! :p
