Autumnheart is the closest to correct. There are multiple interpretations but i feel his/hers is the best and closest. I'm currently thinking of joining the united states marine corps so when i here this song i hope that if i become a marine and have to kill day to day that i won't hear this, my favorite song, and break because of the true facts that no matter the reason the taking of another human life is murder regardless of if it is a merciful killing or not. If you want the truth here's the song. You will lose friends in the military especially the marine corps because they are the first deployed and the last sent home. Semper fi. Oorah!

I think that the song is about the hell our troops go threw when there at war and the hardships they go threw when they get home and try to adjust to home life

I dont know about you but this song is my motivation to join the u. S army yes they go thought hardship but theres good times to, and this describes what life is like for them but how they keep fighting to the end and how they will never be broken, sincerely proud future soldier, hooah

I see this song as a soldier who has just come home but feels guilty of the things hes done even though it was for his country. Hes afraid heaven will not allow someone who has killed into its gates... Most soldiers probably face this after war

From my view i fink it all fallz back on the devil, since his fall from heaven and he can't go back-heaven is trying everyfing ti keep him out,what about d carnival of souls? I believe it has to do wif d devil

I think that people need to stop saying god's not there for them. Cuz he is and it was about war and death and suicide. If god's in your life don't worry he'll take care of them.

Since the song is called 'far from home' and the album is 'war is the answer' and with verse 2 about all the places, shattered dreams, never see the faces again, can't find my way home... I think this is a soldier suffering post traumatic stress after coming home from the war and now everything is changed for him even his faith and belief in religion and maybe he sees himself too sinful after all the killing to make it to heaven. Because of the war he's probably suicidal now.
