Intuition lyrics

This is one of my all time favorite songs and recently has been very relevant in my life recently.
My take on the meaning of the song is in regards to relationships;
That sometimes you know better, sometimes you can see the path of a relationship or the growth and where it is heading, and sometimes it can lead to self sabotage or you 'checking out' because you aren't prepared to deal with the heartbreak of the outcome.
Then when the situation eventuates and what your gut told you happens, you question your intuition and wonder if the gut feeling was right, or if it created the outcome.
The song has a lot of comments of regret but also closure and at the end of the day, you will never be able to tell what it 'could have been' or what else you could have done, and you have to accept that.

It's about not knowing whether or not you made the right choice. How you never know if you missed out on the love of your life just because of some random flicker of intuition you may have had. Or, in reverse, how do you know that your intuition was right in choosing to be with whoever you are with, not a man who "might have changed it all". I don't know. I think feist relies heavily on intuition, yet it should be said that this song can be taken in different ways.
