I've loved everything about you that hurts
So let me see your moves
Let me see your moves
Lips pressed close to mine
True blue

But the prince of any falling empire knows that
Everybody wants
Everybody wants
To drive on through the night if it's a drive back home

Things aren't the same anymore
Some nights it gets so bad
You almost pick up the phone

Trade baby blues for wide-eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes
I know it's strange

It's a strange way of saying that I know "I'm supposed to love you"
"I'm supposed to love you"

Whoa-oh-oh

I've already given up on myself twice
Third time is the charm
Third time is the charm

Threw caution to the wind but I've got a lousy arm
And I've traced your shadows on the wall
Now I kiss them whenever I'm down
Whenever I'm down

Figured on not figuring myself out

Things aren't the same anymore
Some nights it gets so bad
I almost pick up the phone

Trade baby blues for wide-eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes
I know it's strange

It's a strange way of saying that I know "I'm supposed to love you"
"I'm supposed to love you"

Whoa-oh-oh

I'm under a bad sign
You saved my life
That night on the roof of your hotel
Cross my heart and hope to die splinter from the headboard in my eye
Photo-proofed kisses I remember so well

Trade baby blues for wide-eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes
I know it's strange

It's a strange way of saying that I know "I'm supposed to love you"
"I'm supposed to love you"

Whoa-oh-oh

Whoa-oh-oh

aw man it's THE pete/patrick relationship song.
pete is into patrick, let us assume this from the start. they get into a fight, pete goes and has a good buddyfuck with ashlee. she gets pregnant and they've got to make it look good with the whole photo proofed kisses.

obviously he still wants to be with patrick, as he's the one pete's into, but he got ashlee pregnate and this is his responsibilty.

"it's a strange way of saying i know i'm supposed to love you
    i'm supposed to love you"
is basically like, hey i love you and this is a major fuckup.

trade baby blues for wide eyed browns:

baby blues- trade the ohshitbaby business for patrick. who's got those brown eyes. double entrendre, ashlee's got blue eyes too.

the whole wearing your clothes- really. pretty sure girlfriends don't leave their clothes at their boyfriend's house and if they found out he was wearing them? bad.

throw caution to the wind etc. he did ashlee because it felt like he was feeling like shit and needed an escape, but now that they've got a baby coming it's kind of backfired. you can't be quite so spontaneous when you're responsible for that.

sorry. i know everyone else thinks the peterick thing is weird. but mad fangirls have fetishes too you know.
