You were too bad for a little square town
With your hip-hop hat and your pants on the ground
Heard you cussed out mamma, pushed daddy around
You tore off in his car
Here you are runnin' these dirty old streets
Tattoo on your neck, fake gold on your teeth
Got the hood here snow, but you can't fool me, we both know who you are
Homeboy your gonna wish one day
You were sittin' on the gate of a truck by the lake
With your high school flame on one side, ice cold beer on the other
Ain't no shame in a blue collar forty,
Little house little kids little small town story
If you don't ever do anything else for me just do this for me brother,
Come on home, boy [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/e/eric_church/homeboy.html ]
I's haulin' this hay, Uncle Joe's farm
Thought of us bare foot kids in the yard
Man it seems we were just catchin' snakes in the barn
Now you're caught up in this mess
I can use a little help unloadin' these bails
I can keep ya pretty busy with a hammer and a nail
Ain't a glamorous life, but it'll keep you outta jail
And not worry us all to death
Homeboy your gonna wish one day
You were sittin' on the gate of a truck by the lake
With your high school flame on one side, ice cold beer on the other
Ain't no shame in a blue collar forty,
Little house little kids little small town story
If you don't ever do anything else for me just do this for me brother,
Come on home, boy
You can't hold back the hands of time
Mamas goin' grey and so is Daddy's mind
I wish you'd come on back and make it alright
Before they're called... home, boy
Homeboy
Come on home, boy
Homeboy
Come on home, boy
The song is about a man urged to consider the phrase "home, boy." "What was really interesting about that was it was about a journey that started in one place and ends in a totally different place," Church told The Boot. "What tied the whole song together was the chorus. I love writing a song where you're in the middle of it and say, 'What now?'"
I really like this song, when i first heard this song, i couldnt stop and get it out of my head, i had to look it up, and once i did, it became my favorite song, now i know it by heart. You should really think before you do something, and it will help alot in life, if u make the right decisions instead of growing up and becoming some punk rock star. Those people who turn into some gansta man are total losers who need to get a life. So pray for those people who need to turn their life around.

Makes me think of what's wrong with the world today, little punks rolling around, thinking they're cool. They cause more problems than we can solve. Maybe if everyone stopped and enjoyed the little things, it wouldn't be a rodeo out there.

His brother is putting on a hoodlum act snow job to people that don't know him.
"hood here" "gangsta here" its all just a hood here snow (job).
His brother knows he is just the same barefoot kid having fun catching snakes in the barn.

Homeboy means to me is he was raised in the country now. Now he's playing in the city finding that he can't do the things he could in the country and he's seeing trouble. So big brother is telling him its time to come back home. Don't be ashamed were u came from be proud

I think it means a boy is running away and his brother is telling him to come “homeboy” because his parents are dying and going home to heaven -kyle graves
