O mistress mine, where are you roaming?
O stay and here! Your true love's coming
That can sing both high and low;
Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
Journeys end in lovers meeting,
Every wise man's son doth know.
What is love? 'Tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What's to come is still unsure:
In delay there lies no plenty;
Then come kiss me, Sweet-and-twenty,
Youth's a stuff will not endure. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/e/emilie_autumn/o_mistress_mine.html ]
Well, i'm actually doing the twelfth night with a local theatre group, and they asked me to write my own version of it, music wise. I took a long time interpreting it, and the way i think about it, it's basically a song saying there's sorrow and heartbreak, but there's also love and joy, and when you're young is a good time to get it out of the way so you can just enjoy yourself later on.
