Duran Duran – Ordinary World lyrics
[Intro]

[Verse 1]
Came in from a rainy Thursday
On the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly
I turned on the lights, the Tv
And the radio
Still I can't escape the ghost of you

[Pre-Chorus]
What has happened to it all?
Crazy, some'd say
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away...

[Chorus]
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an Ordinary World
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the Ordinary World
I will learn to survive

[Verse 2]
Passion or coincidence
Once prompted you to say
"Pride will tear us both apart"
Well now pride's gone out the window
Cross the rooftops
Run away
Left me in the vacuum of my Heart

[Pre-Chorus]
What is happening to me?
Crazy, some'd say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away...

[Chorus]
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an Ordinary World
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the Ordinary World
I will learn to survive

[Instrumental 1]

[Verse 3]
Papers in the roadside
Tell of suffering and greed
Here today, forgot tomorrow
Ooh, here besides the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk

[Instrumental 2]

(Just blown away)

[Chorus]
And I don't cry for yesterday
There's an Ordinary World
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the Ordinary World
I will learn to survive

[Outro]
Every World
Is my World
(I will learn to survive)
Any World
Is my World
(I will learn to survive)
Any World
Is my World
Every World
Is my World...

The song is OK, I prefer their earlier stuff. This song, however is the soundtrack to one of the best "beat downs" in all movie-dom. Yes, Morty, in a towering rage, absolutely taking apart fat-ass Freddy as payback for Freddy getting Morty pinched and sent to gaol. A chance meeting in a café, down on his luck Freddy hits Morty up for a meal, then a loan. Morty, stone-faced (but you know inside he's seething, roaring) complies, peeling off pound notes "Ten's..a nice...round...number", then, explosion! It is an epic assault, the song fuzzes in and out, the camera goes in and out of focus, sometimes wide shot, sometimes POV. It is brutal. Morty takes all his rage out on hapless loser Freddy. Kicking, punching, stomping, all the while taunting him "What's happening? Been away 10 fuckin years!" "You need a red light?", Mr.X "Morty! He's had enough" "I'LL say when he's fuckin had enough!", "But let's forget about all of that, let's have a cuppa tea instead." as he pours a pot of steaming tea on Freddy's broken body. Bonus points for intercut scenes of Duke and Slasher getting wacked.

As with all top tier entertainers, their financing and media support and even the contents of their songs are given to them by the ruling oligarchs of this world. Their purpose is to keep the masses distracted and confused. Ever wonder why the majority of songs are about infactuation and love and how great it is and never about serious issue that could rally the population. Anyways eventually the support was withdrawn and hence they must return to the ordinary world.
