Follow the star to a place unexpected
Would you believe, after all we've projected,
A child in a manger?
Lowly and small, the weakest of all
Unlikeliest hero, wrapped in his mother's shawl -
Just a child -
Is this who we've waited for? 'cause... [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/downhere/how_many_kings.html ]
How many kings step down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
And how many gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that is torn all apart
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
Bringing our gifts for the newborn Savior
All that we have, whether costly or meek
Because we believe.
Gold for his honor, and frankincense for his pleasure
And myrrh for the cross he will suffer
Do you believe?
Is this who we've waited for?

It's really a good question. Did the wise men believe. This song is like a conversation between two of them. Did they really believe that the little baby was a king? But because of the love of god, and all of his sacrifices, he died for our sins.

I always thought of jesus dying on the cross for us as jesus's love for us, and it was, but the sacrifice that god made never really hit me until this song.

This song i think is made to show people why people love god so much, and as it says in the last lines, that god didn't do this just for those who love him, he did it for those who hate him as well. He did it for everyone. Romans 5:8 "but god demonstrates his love toward us in that while we were still sinners, christ died for us. " you don't have to be perfect to come to god. He loves you when you are a sinner, and christians are sinners too, by the way. The difference between christians and non-christians is that christians have a right relationship with god, because they have accepted his forgiveness.
