Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting
I’m through with doubt
There’s nothing left for me to figure out
I’ve paid a price
And I’ll keep paying
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
I know you said
Can’t you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/dixie_chicks/not_ready_to_make_nice.html ]
I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting
I think that the dixie chicks were perfectly justified in their comment that they made. Bush is an idiot. So yeah. I like them and i like this song! They're saying that they're okay with people hating them for their opinion. They're 100% right.
The issue is, they along with all other entertainers want the money and power but they don't want what comes with that: ticking people off and death threats. You can't have it both ways. Sure, freedom of speech but don't use your position as an entertainer to make political statements if you are not prepared to answer to the consequences. You are an entertainer, not a political analyst. Know the difference.
Freakylittlepixie very good guess but the song is about when natalie said during a concert that they were "embarrassed to say they were from texas"... Making negitive reference to our former president from texas who made some very bad and deadly descisions during his two terms in office... We are still paying the price today!! Anyway, after she made this comment all the country music radio stations black balled the dixie chicks and refused to play anything by them for four years! Natalie faced death treats and received hate mail. After the first four years in office, and not long into the second term people began to realize that bush was not the ideal president and that natalie was a smart girl way before her time. So, the dixie chicks began to write music, raise their families and wait. They released a new album... Main stream radio, completely by passing the country stations that had black balled them. This song is about this experience.
I think it has to do with rape for some reason. "it's sad sad story when a mother will teach her daughter she ought to hate a perfect stranger. "
Teaching a child of rape that she should be scared of men, because of what happened to her mother. And the mother has all the resentment towards her raper therefore she isn't ready to come to tirms with it... An dfor some reason it makes me think she knew her raper beforehand and is not ready to forgive him.
I sing this song when i am super mad at someone, or some people this song was ment for me because i get super mad at people. I know all the words by heart because i sing it a lot. I want to thank the dixie chicks for writing this song {not ready to make nice}
