Disney – Part Of Your World lyrics

Look at this stuff, isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection is complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything

Look at this trove, treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold
Looking around here you'd think
Sure, she's got everything

I've got gadgets and gizmos a plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs? I've got twenty!
But who cares? No big deal,
I want more

I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancing

Walking around on those
What do you call 'em? Oh, feet

Flipping your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a
What's that word again?

Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wandering free
Wish I could be, part of that world

What would I give if I could live
Out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day
Warm on the sand

Bet'cha on land, they understand
That they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women, sick of swimming
Ready to stand

I'm ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions
And get some answers
What's a fire and why does it - what's the word?

When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love, love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world

I find this song interesting, because every little girl who watches the movie wants to be a mermaid and live in that world with all the cute fish. But Ariel wants to be rid of that world even more desperately. I think people just love the idea of the unknown.

I absolutely adore this song, it is my favorite one from the movie. It really has a meaning, wanting something that is seemingly impossible. I sing this every night to myself, and I knew the full lyrics before I got on this site. Not to mention, I loved the lighting and the bluish tint to everything when Ariel sang this. The whole point of this song is to express Ariel's desire and longing to become a human, but, like seen in the ending, she expressed sadness through the song as well. A great feeling of curiosity is there, too. "What's a fire?" It's clear that Ariel wants to learn more about the human world, and she longs with all her heart that she could be "part of that world."

She wants to enjoy her life and her opportunity to be a normal human. She expresses those things of people by the song. She expresses how the people feel about it. She wants to experience it. But she can't do this because it's like she's like a poppet that controls her. Ithink I got the point of the song. And that point is that you should follow your dreams, give them a hard work, and follow your heart desire.

When I was younger I always asked my Mom to sing it for me. It's because before, when I was only 4-6, I always dreamed of becoming a mermaid. I really love the water. My favorite movie was The Little Mermaid. Now that I'm twelve I can sing it for myself but still ask my Mom to sing it for me! I really love it! It's about a mermaid who wishes to be a human but of course, that's impossible.
    (In real life that is.)
