Dionne Warwick – What The World Needs Now lyrics
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some but for everyone

Lord we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last until the end of time

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some but for everyone

Lord, we don't need another meadow
There are corn fields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen Lord, if You want to know

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some, oh, but just for every, every everyone

What the world needs now is love sweet love
(Whoa, whoa, is love)
What the world needs now is love sweet love
(Oh, oh, is love)
What the world needs now is love sweet love
(Whoa, whoa, is love)

The grass may seem greener than what we already have. We need to be grateful for what we have and enjoy to the fullest what we have and not go searching for something that seems better, but is only an illusion. What we want is not always what we need. Material things are not what make us genuinely happy and content. Love for fellow man is the essence of true contentment and peace.

We have so much love to give each other but we don't take the time to do it. In Dionne's song she explains that God has given us everything to last but people aren't interested in taking the time to show love and this song was produced in the sixties. So much has happened since then and we are still stuck in the same spot. It's sad that just common curtesy on the phone is gone. Simple manners and it makes me think that there needs to be another “Charm school” invented to start our 1st graders in just to show respect.
