There are some things you can't cover up
With lipstick and powder
Thought I heard you mention my name
Can't you talk any louder

Don't come any closer, don't come any nearer
My vision of you can't come any clearer
Oh, I just wanna hear girls talk

Got a loaded imagination bein' fired by girls' talk
It's a more or less situation inspired by girls' talk
But I can't say the words you wanna hear
I suppose you're gonna have to play it by ear, right here

And now, girls talk
And they wanna know how girls talk
And they say it's not allowed, girls talk
If they say that it's so
Don't they think that I'd know by now

Got the word up on everyone's lipstick
That you're getting faded
You may not be an old-fashioned girl
But you're gonna get dated

Was it really murder, were you just pretending
Lately I've heard you are the living end

Girls talk, and they wanna know how girls talk
And they say it's not allowed, girls talk
And they think they know how girls talk
If they say that it's so
Don't they think that I'd now by now

But I can't say the words you wanna hear
I suppose you're gonna have to play it by ear, I hear

There are some things you can't cover up
With lipstick and powder
But I heard you mention my name
Can't you talk any louder

Don't come any closer, don't come any nearer
My vision of you can't come any clearer

Girls talk, and they wanna know how girls talk
And they say it's not allowed, girls talk
And they think they know how girls talk
Girls talk, girls talk
Girls talk, girls talk
Girls talk, girls talk
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah girls talk
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah girls talk

You can't hide your true "feelings" in some situations. Some things you just can't cover up, they are more than obvious, even if you try to hide them. They can be seen no matter what, so to speak. If that is not enough, then girls, being girls will talk about stuff. So even if they are trying to hide something, a thing they can't, they will talk about it anyway, with other girls, and the truth comes out. So he thinks he knows what she is trying to hide, but wants to be sure, so he wants to hear what she is talking about it. Since she is talking to other girls about it he "just wants to know girl talk. "

There can be many things in girl talk but what he wants to know about girl talk is will she – with him. He can't say that he loves her, " the words you want to hear", but he thinks since she is "dedicated", she has been, erm, involved with other guys, and he wants to know – will she be involved with him, even if he can't say "the words you want to hear".

Simply put, from girls talking it's known that she has done it and is willing or "dedicated". So, he wants to know will it be with him, even if he doesn't love her, "the words you wanna hear". Because after all, "girls talk", and she has, erm, spoken in both ways – doing it and talking about it.

Clyde Mcphatter posed they same question, but in a more vulnerable, very different and sweeter way. "Does she love my with all my heart, or should I worry when we're apart". Nicely done, Clyde. And, right on, Elvis.
