Grace's amazing hands, they hold me.
They are soft as a feather bed.
They would never strike or scold me,
Cause they know the words that will work instead.

I always thought that love was frightening,
I always thought it'd be so rough.
Love has sent me down an angel, baby
I knew it was Grace, just by a touch.
Just by her touch.

Grace's amazing hands, they're ugly,
They're bruised by the blows that I have blown.
She knows well I don't deserve her,
But she laughs and says, That's the way love goes.

I always thought that love was frightening,
I always thought it'd be so rough.
Love has sent me down an angel baby,
And I knew it was Grace, just by her touch.
Just by her touch.

What did I do,
What did I say?
For love to smile down on me,
And show me amazing grace.
C'mon and show me grace

Grace's amazing hands are they're ugly,
But they are soft as a feather bed.

this is a new take (or spin), if you will, on the classic Christian song entitled amazing grace. well, now that we got the that out of the way, lets get down to business. The meaning of the song is all tied up in God's grace (the girls name is grace in this song- being a metaphor for God's grace-I guess it's a poetry thing) anyway... the first verse is a poetically translated definition of grace (God's Grace) pure and simple.

The Christian teaching is that grace is unmerited mercy that God gave to us by sending his son to die on a cross to give us eternal salvation. Romans 5:1-2 "1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand..." Galatians 5:4 "4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

Grace in this context is something that is God-given, made possible only by Jesus Christ and none other. It is God's gift of salvation granted to sinners for their salvation. (Definition from wikipedia)

Because of God's grace, He was willing to come to take the punishment for the sins that we committed. So in other words, He paid our bail so we could get a free get out of jail card. And now we can be all squared away with God.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
    —John 3:16-17

The second verse addresses the fact that our sin is hurtful to God. but, even though we sinned, He still loved us enough to come and die for us. Thats His grace.

the bridge asks the question, What did I do, What did I say? For love to smile down on me, And show me amazing grace.
But the very nature of God's grace is love. we don't deserve it because we've all sinned-for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,—Romans 3:23 And no matter how hard we could try, we could never earn God's love by our good deeds. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
—Ephesians 2:8-9 Because, after all, if you've only committed one sin in your entire life, you would still go to hell. But God loved you so much despite your sins, that He took your punishment for you on the cross. -For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep(dead) we might live with him. So if you believe in Him. that He is who He says He is. i.e., The son of God. And if you trust in Him alone for eternal life and forgiveness of sins, then you will be forgiven of even the worst sins. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."Hebrews 8:12 And then all that is left to do is turn from your sins.( of course you might need his help on that one,so try asking Him. and check out the bible too-it's a pretty cool place to start your relationship with Jesus.)

So just trust in His grace. or you might even say-embrace His grace- hey there might just be a poet in us all! but back to the matter art hand. God's Grace is the only way to eternal life, and the only way to escape an eternal punishment for our sins in hell. but hey, don't just take it from me, Jesus even said it Himself. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except through me (the son of God).
    —John 14:6
So I guess grace does have some pretty amazing hands when you think about it like that! And they're just waiting to hold you. Just reach up and grab them!
