It's my third cup of coffee,
The fifth time I said I'm sorry
The sun slowly peakin' through the glass
Says we've been up all night
We both know where this is goin'
It's been a long time comin'
Is it really over
Is this really goodbye
Maybe I should say somethin'
Maybe you'd change your mind
Maybe, maybe, buy a little more time
But I got nothin', no magic words
To stop your leavin', to end this hurt
I'm just blank, I'm starin' into space
Prayin', "Please, please let me think of somethin'"
'Cause I got nothin' [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/darius_rucker/i_got_nothin.html ]
I watch you pack your things
You look down at your ring
Slowly slip it off, and then
Lay it on our bed
Maybe I should pick it up
And get down on my knees
Tell you what you wanna hear, and give you what you need
But I got nothin', no magic words
To stop your leavin', to end this hurt
I'm just blank, I'm starin' into space
Prayin', "Please, please let me think of somethin'
"'Cause I got nothin'"
Oh, you're almost at the door
And you stop and turn around
Your eyes are beggin' me,
"Please say somethin' right now"
But I got nothin', no magic words
To stop your leavin', I can't end this hurt
I'm just blank, I'm starin' into space
Prayin', "Please, please let me think of somethin'
"'Cause if you go, I got nothin'"
The third single from Charleston, SC 1966 finds Rucker mourning the end of a relationship, lamenting that he's got nothin' left to win his girl back. Rucker wrote this with American songwriter Clayton "Clay" Mills, who previously co-penned the Hootie & the Blowfish singer's debut country single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It."
