Oh, Oh Deep water
Black, and cold like the night
I stand with arms wide open
I've run a twisted mile
I'm a stranger
In the eyes of the maker
I could not see
For fog in my eyes
I could not feel
For the fear in my life
From across the great divide
In the distance i saw a light
Jean baptiste
Walking to me with the maker [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/daniel_lanois/the_maker.html ]
My body is bent and broken
By long and dangerous sleep
I can't work the fields of abraham
And turn my head away
I'm not a stranger
In the hands of the maker
Brother john
Have you seen the homeless daughters
Standing there
With broken wings
I have seen the flaming swords
There over east of eden
Burning in the eyes of the maker
Burning in the eyes of the maker
Burning in the eyes of the maker
Burning in the eyes of the maker
Its the gospel of christ.we are dead in tresspasses and sin a stranger in the eyes of my maker but then god comes down with john the baptist ready to baptize into new life.. Now bended broken on your knees acepting christ by faith now in the hands of my maker im not a stranger. I am his.. No more works of the law but by grace and i see the flaming eyes of the lord burning over those not yet saved.. The angelic guard still stands a reminder that without his grace there is nothing but judgement.
I think that it means that we are spiritually dead until we accept christ as our savior and are babtized with the holy spirit. God then is able to turn and look at us and know us.
