Dance Gavin Dance And I Told Them I Invented Times New Roman lyrics

But now you know that I am cold
(Take me out now, I've dropped the mast down)
And now I am found
(Take me out now, I've dropped the mast down)

(Whispering)

Duck down, then hide, behind the file cabinet
Duck down, then hide, behind the file cabinet, down
And without ever letting go I knew you'd gone
Duck down, then hide, behind the file cabinet
Duck down, then hide, behind the file cabinet, down
And without ever letting go I knew you'd gone astray
Stranded here in this cold atmosphere.
Waiting for the lifeless words to come from your mouth
Enduring every sound

This is not why the cast is hollow
Sending the rats to follow
Under the weight of all these eyes
Fry

But now you know that I am cold
(Take me out now, I've dropped the mast down)
And now I am found
(Take me out now, I've dropped the mast down)

I lay without understanding
I don't know why I feel this way
Oh lay down girl take my world
I know why I can't see your face
I've placed every mole there is to place on your wasted body
Oh, lay down girl and take my world
I know why I can't see your face

As the window left shattered now
We saw the withered body try to shout
You thought the price of your life was devout
And told us some things you can't live without
And was this what was best for us
And was this what was best for us

Just let it show (Rest where you ought to be)
(Block out your misery)
I'll bring you far (Wait for the call)
Well I'll go for it (You left in the hallway)
I'll beg you when you know (People they change)
(And I would still be ashamed)
I'll beg you when it shows (To let the weight of the world)
Well I'll go for it (Rest on your shoulders)
I don't believe the lies (I'll fight until the war is over)
I don't believe the lies (I'll fight until the war is over)
I'll die for you (I'll fight until the war is over)
(I'll fight until the war is over)
I don't believe the lies (I'll fight until the war is over)
I don't believe the lies (I'll fight until the war is over)
It's staged for you (I'll fight until the war is over)
(I'll fight until the war is over)

Left at my feet rests the soul of my brother
Vengeance will fall for the deeds of another

I can understand how it's about 9/11. How about when he says "as the window left shattered now. We saw the withered body try to shout. You thought the price of your life was devout. And told us some things you can't live without"- obviously it means they knew there was no way out of it and they told them of their experiences through life on what you can't live without. They saw the people they worked with everyday, gone.

First of all, look at the title;

"and i told them i invented times new roman"

That is obviously a lie, this guy is might be someone who lie very often to make his life easier and to make himself more intresting. Never done that? Lied to make yourself more intresting?

It starts with "but now you know that i am cold". Put yourself in the situation where someone realize that your a lier.

(take me out now, i've dropped the mast down) your nervous, your caught - this is when that person realize who you really are, and can drop your reputation and cut every connection between you two.

What to do? As you always have, lie. Lie your way out of it. Now you should "duck down, then hide, behind the file cabinet". I think the file cabinet symbolize the lies you still can sell. So you have many lies left, why not just go on and lie, lie and lie.

The confusion of the person who is lied to terrible, now the person dont know what to believe anymore

"without ever letting go i knew you'd gone"

You dont want the person to go, you might love that person - but what your are is just a fake person.. And you know this wont end good.

"and without ever letting go i knew you'd gone astray"

Same as previous sencence, that person is confused.. Dont know what to do.. The person really know you anymore.

"stranded here in this cold atmosphere. "

Ever lied to a person and you feel this cold atmosphere? That the person now sure if wanna believe you or not.. But still the person have to endure your lies..

"enduring every sound... "

I think this will help you alot if you want to have full understanding of this amazing track. I find myself in this track, and im not proud of it. Sorry for my bad english, its not my main language.

I think the only reason some one might be able to relate this to 9/11 is just because of:
"duck down, then hide, behind the file cabinet".
Everything else, i see no connection.

But to me
The majority of his songs, including this one, talks about a girl
Maybe one specifically, maybe not.

I think its about a soldier in the war, who has seen close friends die. And he misses his girl, he dreams about her but when he wakes he is alone.

It seems to have a religious connotation of have to with believe the lies, that god is creator... But i invented times new roman. As well i feel this is an antiwar song, which is kind of given away by the last lyrics. It could also be about getting out of a draft, i may not be able to pay the stipend to get out of the draft or be in college so that you wont get drafted. I'm important. I invented times new roman, the most commonly used font for any document

I think this song is about the death of someone.
Not mainly corresponding to 911,
But to the death of someone in general.
Someone close to the band members..

This song is about a girl.
And without ever letting go i knew you'd gone astray
Stranded here in this cold atmosphere.

About a girl he left.

When i sing along, i think about a girl i love, especially
"don't believe the lies, i'll die for you, we'll go for it"
