If only now just to pursue the things I thought were right.
My only fear is you'll see right through me at all the things I have to hide.
What has this cost me now?
Full-fledged denial, self-gratifying,
To live and die with no regret would be just fine for me. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/corpus_christi/fight_for_your_king.html ]
I have fear in deep emotions.
Come and lift me out of the dark.
Blissful, ignite the battle.
We know it's not eternal.
We know.
Our father, in heaven, we know.
I fought the fight, I'm black and blue.
This is the way we are.
Beat down and scared it's nothing new.
We choose now just what to do.
This is the way we are.
Live trying, die fighting.
We know that this is the only thing worth fighting for.
This song is not talking about a physical battle, but the spiritual one. The one we wage against ourselves, against the devil.
"i've fought the fight" is a quote from the bible in 2 timothy 4:7. It talks about the fight of faith.
"i'm black and blue" talks about how we are scarred from this battle, especially how some people around the world are abused for their faith.
The next several lines talk about how he fights the wrong battle and lives for himself instead. He pleads for god to ignite his will to fight the fight of faith and for him not to be afraid of passionate faith.
"we know its not eternal" is talking about how we will not always battle, one day these difficulties will be over.
Then he talks about his commitment to fight the right battle.
