Chacha: you nare right that the song has a deep meaning but your synopsis that the song is about a masquerade of feelings could not be more wrong. I will translate this song as i would a shakespearean play:

This song is about love. I dont care what anyone else says that is my opinion. The guy trys putting on a tough exterior, by not really showing his feelings ( thats what he means by wearing his sunglasses at night)
and the girl takes advantage over the way he feels, and she never lets him forget about her, also in the song when he says "and i wear my sunglasses at night
so i can so i can
keep track of the visions in my eyes" in my opinion that means, hes wanting to keep all the memories of him and her. And eyes are a big part of love also. Neways this song has a very deep meaning. If you just listen to it. And some people might not look at it the wayi do. But this song is awesome no matter what neone says. Just listen to it.
