Call it magic
Call it true
I call it magic, when I'm with you
And I just got broken
Broken into two
Still I call it magic, when I'm next to you

And I don't, And I don't, And I don't, And I don't
No I don't, it's true
I don't, No, I don't, No, I don't, No, I don't
Want anybody else but you

I don't, No I don't, No I don't, No I don't
No I don't, it's true
I don't, No I don't, No I don't, No I don't
Want anybody else but you

Ooh

Call it magic
Cut me into two
And with all your magic, I disappear from view
And I can't get over, can't get over you
Still, I call it magic
You're such a precious jewel

And I don't, And I don't, And I don't, And I don't
No I don't, it's true
I don't, No I don't, No I don't, No I don't
Want anybody else but you

I don't, No I don't, No I don't, No I don't
No I don't, it's true
I don't, No I don't, No I don't, No I don't
Want anybody else but you

I want to fall, fall so far
I want to fall, fall so hard

I call it magic
And I call it true
Call it magic

Ooh

And if you were to ask me
After all that we've been through
"Still believe in magic?"
Well yes, I do
Oh yes, I do
Yes, I do
Oh yes, I do
Of course I do

The song is about this guy and his lover. When he's with her he explains how It's magic to him. But, he is heart broken because they are no longer together "broken into two", so his hearts broken. "Still I call it magic when I'm with you" even though he is heart broken that they aren't together he still feels that "magic" when with her. He doesn't want anyone else, and wont "no I don't want anyone else but you... No i don't its true" letting us or her know she'll always be the only one he wants. He goes on more about the heart break and how he can't get over her, and how special and precious she is to him.
"And if you were to as me after all that we've been through, still believe in magic, oh yes I do" this part means that after everything that they have gone through, hardships, heartbreak etc. He still believes in them and believes that one day they will be together again.

I think it's the simplicity of the lyrics combined with the musical sounds that make it great. He is talking about how he is destroyed by the great love he feels, it's so strong that it breaks him into two. And yet despite his inner turmoil can't help but feeling the magic and not wanting "anybody else but you". I also find the part about disappearing from view interesting. How when your broken hearted you just find yourself disappearing away from life and the joy of yourself and independence in a sense. Disappearing into the spell of another person and becoming obsessed with the love or relationship they have. Disappearing from his true self, happiness, or sense of independent identity. It's a very sad song to me.

To the first person who wrote, even if you want to label it as "typical mainstream pop" Coldplay still manages to do it best, and that's why it will "blow up" as you say. I'm not bashing you, just that they deserve respect for at least distinguishing themselves from all others by not saying, "I'm heart broken, I can't live on, I can't live without you, I'd rather die" and all that cheesy stuff. Sure there's a lot of repetition and not a lot to the lyrics, but they can still be deep from a certain point of view.

That being said, I believe the meaning to this song could be referring to the problems Chris Martin and Gwenyth Paltrow have been through in their marriage recently. So after that whole dilemma, it sounds like, of course Chris is hurt by what she supposedly did, but in the line "after all that we've been through" and then says he still believes in magic, the meaning to me is that he still loves her and that it's still as strong as ever.

Some really great songs don't have deep lyrics. I think of Super tramp or rem, and they have songs where just the sound of the words is so musical and it makes the song great. This is how I feel about this. And I don't and I don't and I don't. It works and they are able to pull it off because they are great musicians matched with a great producer.
