Long distance information, give me Memphis Tennessee
help me find the party tryinґ to get in touch with me.
She could not leave her number but I know who placed the call
my uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall.

Aaah, help me information, get in touch with my Marie
sheґs the only one who would phone me here from Memphis Tennessee.
Her home is on the south side, high up on a ridge
just a half a mile from the Missisippi bridge.

Aaah, help me information more than that I can not add
only that I miss her and all the fun we had,
but we were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
and tore apart our happy home in Memphis Tennessee.

Last time I saw Marie she was waving me goodbye
with hurry-home-drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
Marie is only 6 years old so information please
try to put me through to her in Memphis Tennessee.

This is my first time and I can't find any comments about this song. If mine is the first that would of course explain it. But if I repeat something that's already been sad, please forgive me. I can really relate to this song because my ex wife told my kids (as young as 11) all the bad stuff I did that contributed to the divorce, and they didn't speak to me for 4 years. But anyway that sure sounds like what this song is about. I've done some research and can't find that info on any bio of him, but I'll keep looking.
