One less bell to answer
One less egg to fry
One less man to pick up after
I should be happy
But all I do is cry

Verse 2:

(Cry, cry, no more laughter) I should be happy
(Oh, why did he go)I only know that
Since he left my life's so empty

Bridge:

Though I try to forget it just can't be done
Each time the doorbell rings I still run
I don't know how in the world
To stop thinking of him
'Cause I still love him so
I end each day the way I start out
Crying my heart out

Verse 3 (first two lines instrumental):

One less man to pick up after
No more laughter, no more love
Since he went away (he went away)

Coda:

(One less bell to answer) Why did he leave me
(Why, why, why did he leave)
(One less bell to answer) Now I've got one less egg to fry
One less egg to fry
(Why, why, why did he leave) And all I do is cry
(One less bell to answer) Because a man told me goodbye
(Why, why, why did he leave)
(One less bell to answer) Somebody tell me please
Where did he go, why did he go
(Why, why, why did he leave)tell me How could he leave me

Maybe she was too clingy and couldn't fry eggs worth a darn. She just needs to get over it and just stop asking why, why, why. Wonder if he door bell stopped working? RJ in KS

You pontificate online and you love the sound of your own voice. It drove him nuts. It drives us all nuts! For god's sake, please, please buy a journal! Your blog? We're not really interested. When you blog, we hear monkeys clanging cymbals...

Hal David never get any credit for all the song they made . because it was combine collaboration between Burt Bacharach music and hall david. That made all their song so unforgettably beautiful.

They needed each other John Lennon, Paul McCartney or Carol King early song. She made the music but her ex Gerry Goffin wrote the lyric she get all the credit.

Her entire sense of self, her self esteem was completely wrapped up in this guy: loving him, serving him, taking care of his need. But it wasn't a two-way street with him. Maybe he didn't like that she was so intensely attentive. Whatever the case, he split and left her an empty, lost soul asking the question "why? " over and over again. We all ask that question when some tragic event befalls us and as is typical in an all-to-human world, we may go the rest of our lives and never get an answer.

Two questions not answered in the song. She did her part in being a woman (cooking), and so why did he leave? The song is incomplete. So very sadd, she was a beautiful. I sure as heck would not leave her, sincerely, discolarry124
