This song is somewhat confusing upon preliminary examination, but it's riotous laughter and contradictory statements portray the turmoil that Britney Spears has endured for the past few years. Amy represents Britney Spears and the lyrics of "If U Seek Amy" make multiple statements about her emotions and mental state. Among other things, she is talking about her fickle fans ("love me, hate me,") and the stalking and following that she has suffered ("I just wanna go to the party she gonna go"). The laughter is significant considering Britney's condition (out-of-control laughter is an excellent portrayal of the bipolar mind--up and down, crazy, out-of-control, and paranoid) and Britney's past (the world watched her mental breakdown and most people merely laughed). This song, although poignant, is fascinating psychologically. Its multiple meanings and symbolism are brilliance, and once again, Britney Spears is back in full force.

Throughout the song, she's talking about her current situation with everyone trying to go where she goes ("I just want to go to the part she gonna go"), stalking her and writing up everything about her as though her every move is important ("Is she in the bathroom, Is she smokin' up outside?"), know what she likes/asking what she likes ("does she take a piece of lime, For the drink that I'mma buy her do you know just what she likes?"), the on and off situation with everyone disliking her/liking her/bashing her/etc ("Love me, hate me,"), the news & paparazzi ("all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy") AND then she is stating her opinions on current situation ("Say what you want about me").

Continuing, in more detail: "Can't you see what I see" is referring to the fact that everyone "say what they want about me" (A line directly from the song) when they don't see or know she know. The laughing part, which appears quite a lot throughout the song, is expressing how everyone acts around her. Laughing at her every move as though she's some sort of entertainment.

It has nothing to do with sex. It has to do with a "play of words" (slightly) but its up to the public to hear the song, translate it into whatever language or way they can understand ... and understand.

As for the music video, she's showing the reality of what we all might see while we make a big deal since she's a celeb... there are citizens who participate in loose sexual means.

Furthermore, "If You Seek Amy" "iF yoU Cee-Ka-my" ("Eff You See Kay mi" )"F.U.C.K. Me" doesn't necessarily point towards f u c k=sex. In anger, you say "F u c k you" that doesn't mean you want to fuck that person...right? You're mad at the person. Put two and two together, people, and realize that this song isn't as difficult as you think.

In reality? She's sticking her middle finger up at the news, the paparazzi, and everyone else who ever laughed at her. Just like how we do, the people, in reality to people who laugh at us.

This song should not be on here because there are young people on this website. What if your younger sister saw this song or heard it on you Ipod you would feel really bad wouldn't you? Why can't artist's realize the fan base is what creates them. If some small town band wrote that song people would try to have them arrested.
