Bring Me The Horizon – Hospital For Souls lyrics

[Intro]
"And then I found out how hard it is to really change,
Even hell can get comfy once you've settled in.
I just wanted the numb inside me to leave.
No matter how fucked you get, it's always there when you come back down.
The funny thing is, all I ever wanted, I already had,
There's glimpses of heaven in every day.
In the friends that I have, the music I make,
The love that I feel, I just had to start again. "

[Verse 1]
The days are a death-wish,
A witch-hunt for an exit
.
I am powerless.
The fragile, the broken,
Sit in circles and stay unspoken
.
We are powerless.
Because we all walk alone on an empty staircase,
Silent halls and nameless faces.
I am powerless.

[Pre-Chorus]
Everybody wants to go to heaven,
But nobody wants to die.
I can't fear death no longer,
I've died a thousand times
.
Why explore the universe,
When we don't know ourselves?
There's an emptiness inside our heads
That no-one dares to dwell
.

[Chorus]
Throw me to the flames!
Watch me burn.
Set my world ablaze!
Watch me burn
.

[Verse 2]
"How are we on a scale of one to ten?
Could you tell me what you see?
Do you want to talk about it?
How does that make you feel?
Have you ever took a blade to your wrists?
Have you been skipping meals?
We're going to try something new today.
How does that make you feel
? "

[Hook]
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn).
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn).
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn),
In this hospital for souls.

Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn).
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn).
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn),
In this hospital for souls.

Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn).
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn).
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me (burn),
In this hospital for souls.

[Outro]
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn.
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn.
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn,
In this hospital for souls.

Hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn.
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn.
Hold me close, don't let go, watch me burn,
In this hospital for souls.

Hey guys, this is my first post I've ever done (concerning songs meanings I mean).
Basically this song is my favorite one of all times, and it is just so emotional I wanted to say things on it: I've tried to understand it, and to analyze it properly, because I think it's pretty logical that things like that have to take time to be understood.
As the first comment told, the introduction Is talking about drug addiction, and particularly the one Oli had. Ketamine and so, I guess you guys know the story. He then went to rehab, he wanted to get out of this (enough!) and this introduction is talking about his feelings.
Then, he says he is powerless, and that his life doesn't even make sense, that he already died so many times to have a real notion of death (maybe because he had suffered a lot, and this made him start the addiction, and when he suffers again, it's just taking part of a routine. That's what he kind of expresses when he says he can't fear death no longer.) he is wondering so much things, and is explaining how he suffered in this whole thing. This song is really sad, because we can all see Oli is stuck in this "dark-core-cynical..I'm hiding myself behind trees sometimes" mood, but this sad view makes it even more magnificent. Even though the protagonist is getting a cure, he stays sad, like it was his soul that was sad. He met people there, he was in a thing that made him knew to the real pain, and he talks about it in the Avalanche song, (another beautiful one. Another comment told that too but he is talking about the questions surgents and doctors asked him.

In the beginning he talks about his addiction to drugs. The hospital for souls is the REHAB he went into. The lyrics throughout are the conversations he had with this doctor. Did you ever slit your wrists? Have you been skipping meals? Were going to try something new today. How does that make you feel? Interesting and he doesn't want them to leave him there to burn.
