The silicon chip inside her head gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's going to make them stay at home
And daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was good as gold
And he can see no reasons, 'cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be shown?
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot the whole day down
The telex machine is kept so clean and it types to a waiting world
And mother feels so shocked
Father's world is rocked
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl
Sweet 16 ain't that peachy keen
No, it ain't so neat to admit defeat
They can see no reasons 'cause there are no reasons
What reasons do you need
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot the whole day down, down, down, shoot it all down [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/boomtown_rats/i_dont_like_mondays.html ]
And all the playing has stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with the toys of war
And school's out early and soon we'll be learning
That the lesson today is how to die
And then the bullhorn crackles
And the captain cackles with the problems and the hows and whys
And he can see no reasons 'cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to die, die?
And the silicon chip inside her head gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's going to make them stay at home
Her daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was good as gold
And he can see no reasons 'cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be shown?
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like, I don't like, (Tell me why?) I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like, I don't like, (Tell me why?) I don't like Mondays
Tell me why?
I don't like Mondays
I want to shoot the whole day down

The girl lost it. She could take the pressure of monday. Monday is her metaphor of the beginning of adulthood, and she just could take growing up. So, by "shooting it down , she was always going to be daddy's little girl.

People die. It hurts. But it's the poetic kind of hurt, the kind of wounds that keep bleeding.

January 1979 brenda spencer, 17, got a rifle for christmas and used it to shoot into an elementary school across the street from her home in san diego, california. Eight children and a police officer were injured, and two men lost their lives protecting the kids. When the six-hour standoff finally ended, brenda explained with a shrug, "i don't like mondays. "
I've always loved the song because to me it expresses the feelings of hormonally-caused adolescent rage and grief and total defeat. Beyond all personal control - the person has no awareness of the cause ('no reason') why it's happening to them. When i was 19 i got acute depression, suicidal, was hospitalised for months. Also, in later life i read about endocrinology (study of hormones). Low blood sugar naturally happens in the premenstrual phase around dinnertime, causing deep depression, irritability. So this song is, to me, about grief. Understanding endocrinology reveals the 'real villain' - it's not the person's fault, they just are in agony emotionally and lash out blindly.
San diego california,
brenda spenser opens fire on a scool across the street from her house,
killing her principal and others(students i think)
asked why she did it she responds with "i dont like mondays"
i know i was in juvenal hall with her,
