On Your Own lyrics

These lyrics need correction:

"No psycho killer, hooligan gorilla...
I drink to write, oh you should try it
I read Burrough(s), We both got soul,
My joy in life is on the roll.
(In live versions he has said "on the road" or "on the go" rather than roll" giving further support to the Kerouac "On The Road" reference. The Limited Edition "Song 2" Japanese singe includes a live acoustic version which he interchanges Burrough with Baroque [7].)

This verse is a reference to Beat[7] literature in particular William S. Burroughs [1], and i suspect Kerouac's "On the Road [2]" which shares a similar title to the song and shares a poetic writing style, both where avid drinkers and at this time Damon Albarn was also drinking heavily Albarn has since quit drinking, and its rumored that Coxon's alcoholism played a large part in his departure from the band[4].
Albarn and Coxon use literary references often, even naming the band "Seymour", inspired by J.D. Salinger's Seymour: An Introduction. The bands name was changed to Blur after signing on with Food Records at the labels request. [5]
