Justin (lead singer) was asked about the song. He stated that someone took advantage of the band when they were green (no pun intended). This is his way of expressing his anger towards said individual. He also stated that MR in the video is not Mowtown Records but infact an individual who will remain nameless. Which could have meerly been a legal disclaimer.
What a bunch of BS. This song has a Ted Bundy/Silence of the Lambs theme. The video portrayed what they thought the kiddies would like to sell copies period. This is about killing/torturing prostitutes. Welcome to the power of TV brainwashing.
actually the song is addressed to the record company that produces them. "you think you own me, you should have known me, you took the future and the food off my family's plate". this album is a result of contracted work, demanded. and justin was pissed.
I don't think this song is about music piracy. I really doubt that illegal down loading would piss him off that much; most of the money comes from live shows. I think the song is about Motown Records and their greed (explaining the burning $100 bill with MR written on it in the video). I think they took advantage of blue october and sucked away their profits. Justin uses the analogy of a neighborhood thief to represent MR's actions. I really like how the video ends. Every person that the thief stole from stood around to watch him be buried, even police officers. It's justin's way of saying "If you take from us, you WILL pay." Very clever song.
