Hey little sister what have you done,
Hey little sister who's the only one,
Hey little sister who's your superman,
Hey little sister who's the one you want,
Hey little sister shot gun!
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day for a white wedding!
It's a nice day to start again.
Hey little sister who is it your with
Hey little sister what's your vice and wish?
Hey little sister shot gun, oh yeah
Hey little sister who's your superman
Hey little sister shot gun!
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day for a white wedding!
It's a nice day to start again!
Owwwwww!
Pick it up!
Take me back home
Yeahhh! [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/billy_idol/white_wedding.html ]
Hey little sister what have you done
Hey little sister who's the only one (only one)
I've been away for so long (so long)
I've been away for so long (so long)
I let you go for so long
It's a nice day to start again.
Come on!
It's a nice day for a white wedding!
It's a nice day to start again.
There is nothin' fair in this world
There is nothin' safe in this world
And there's nothin' sure in this world
And there's nothin' pure in this world
Look for something left in this world
Start again!
Come on
It's a nice day for a white wedding
Woooohh!
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again
I dont know what he actually meant, and im not sure i care. I know he said it was about his sister being pregnant and feeling like and choosing the shotgun wedding to make it right... Apparently he felt there was no innocence left in the world. But the latter part of the song still sounds like its referring to addiction, so im thinking he is using the same symbols with more than one meaning... I mean seriously, how often do any of us only mean or intend one thing. So hes upset about his sister, no innocence in the world, what better excuse to make his own shotgun decision and relapse to escape that perception. And yet i sill like to think that maybe he didnt. Who knows, maybe after being his sisters wedding and then a relapse the white wedding actually becomes symbolic of new start, and maybe the start again loses its menacing shotgun impulse referrence and becomes an actual chance to begin again... I like to think of the fact that i survived the 80s and am still surviving today... Still have the option to start again on a daily basis. I like to hope billy did too, and maybe his sister, even though he didnt see it that way, i mean afterall she is still married, so maybe it was her new start afterall.. I dont know. But the song makes me feel good, so i dont really care either. Im gonna keep letting it remind me that its never too late to avoid the shotgun decision and start again. Take what you want from it, leave the rest.
Billy idol wrote this song for his sister becuz he hated the "bastard" she was marrying. Billy divorced his wife after the song was released and his sister is still with the guy.
"white wedding" refers to a style of suicide whereby two lovers agree to blow their heads off with a shotgun simultaneously. In this song, it's about murder. He's been away, found out about her cheating, confronts her, and is now going to carry out a murder/suicide.
