I've never seen you look like this without a reason,
Another promise fallen through, another season passes by you.
I never took the smile away from anybody's face,
And that's a desperate way to look for someone who is still a child
.

CHORUS:
And in a big country, dreams stay with you,
Like a lover's voice, fires the mountainside..
Stay alive..

(I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered)

I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert,
But I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime..

CHORUS [x2]

So take that look out of here, it doesn't fit you.
Because it's happened doesn't mean you've been discarded.
Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming.
Cry out for everything you ever might have wanted.
I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered.

I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert,
But I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime..

CHORUS [x3]

Well i dont know what it means to the writer or what the song itself is about but to me it has hit home in my heart since i first heard it till now... And that is one of acceptance and hope... If you have to come up screaming to accept what has been done and cry out for what you want and that just cuz bad things have happened doesnt mean ive been discarded... I am all that i am and have a place in this universe and the universe wants and loves me, dont fear and fight for truth and defend your pain; there will always be hope even when it feels shattered

You should always put two spoons of sugar in your tea, if you live in a big country. Otherwise, just one.

I love this song and only came across it about a year ago. Since then cant stop listening to it! Love love love it. So intense. Info i came across the singer stuart adamson killed himself - on 16 december 2001 he was found dead on the floor of a closet in his room at the best western plaza hotel in honolulu, hawaii after committing suicide by hanging. At the time of death he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.279%.

Woke up a perfectly normal girl... Never heard this song before... And this strange song was playing in my head... Strangly happy. Googled it after 8 hours and can't quit playing it. Happy to wake up happy!

Pull yourself out of your depression. Fight for life. Fight for your dreams. It won't be perfect, trust me... But there is beauty in it, and you will heal and find joy in it. Look at me - i'm doing it. So can you. Take flight.
