You wake up late for school - man you don't wanna go
You ask you mom, "Please?" - but she still says, "No!"
You missed two classes - and no homework
But your teacher preaches class like you're some kind of jerk

(chorus) You gotta fight for your right to party

You pop caught you smoking - and he said, "No way!"
That hypocrite - smokes two packs a day
Man, living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away your best porno mag (Bust it!)

(repeat chorus)

Don't step out of this house if that's the clothes you're gonna wear
I'll kick you out of my home is you don't cut that hair
Your mom busted in and said, "What's that noise?"
Aw, mom you're just jealous - it's the Beastie Boys!

(repeat chorus twice)

The meaning is not obvious. It is actually meant to be ironic. They are making fun of drunken party people, but frat boys became their fanbase so they just rolled with it. The irony was lost unto many of their listeners.

I think the meaning of this song is completly to do with the human rights act 1998... 'the right to live your life'

I think that it was about the road to economic recovery and even though times were hard for farmers our president has endured the same social pressures that we may soon encounter ourselves and um i forgot where i was going ... Man i'm partied out dudes!!!

I think this song defines the emotional and spiritual growth of the American teenager. We follow these three youths as they grow and blosson into fine young men.

this song was their way of looking out for the kids when they recorded it. b/c i absolutely have to fight for my right to party... but in the end, it's worth it.
