It's looking like a limb torn off
Or altogether just taken apart
We're reeling through an endless fall
We are the ever-living ghost of what once was

But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do

And anything to make you smile
It is my better side of you to admire
But they should never take so long
Just to be over then back to another one

And no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do

But someone,
They could have warned you
When things start splitting at the seams and now
The whole thing's tumbling down
Things start splitting at the seams and now
If things start splitting at the seams and now,
It's tumbling down
Hard.

And anything to make you smile
You are the ever-living ghost of what once was
I never want to hear you say
That you'd be better off
Or you liked it that way

And no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do

But someone
They should have warned you
When things start splitting at the seams and now
The whole thing's tumbling down
Things start splitting at the seams and now
If things start splitting at the seams and now,
It's tumbling down
Hard

I think everyone interpers this song differently. When I first heard it I thought immediately it would be a wonderful song @ a wedding, it's so beautiful. But when I sing along to it I think of my son. He's been battling Autisim. He's such an inspirational, stronge little guy. I sing this to him a lot, and it does make him smile (probably because I'm not the best singer). But I always end up crying.

After reading in an article that this was the song drew barrymore & her now-husband used as their first dance, I decided to look into it more, as my fiance and I are in the process of picking our first dance song. However, after reading everyone's interpretation of the meaning, I'm not sure this is the right song for that occasion. It has a beautiful melody and describes that bittersweet time in a relationship perfectly, but it just doesn't feel right for a wedding! Glad I researched it! :)

This couples love is dead, over with. . The relationship in a whole is done with. . But the feeling behind it, the love that was given and made was real. . When a relationship starts turning sour its very seldom you can save it, or help it at all. . Yes yu can still make the other person smile, but that's the only good feeling your gonna be able to feel at all once it starts tumbling down. Its a very heart wrenching song. And to know the feeling of this song and to get it, yu had to of been in the same situation. The feeling of only being able to grasp a smile out of this great love that once was is depressing. .

To me it sounds like someone speaking to a loved one stuggling with additction and the fears they have for them. How it has taken everything not only from the addict but from everyone that cares about them as well. The fact that it cycles around and around visiciously and seems impossible to break until the person/reletionship you see is only a ghost of the one you once knew. It is good to know there is help and people can recover and heal but it takes help and tough love from those who care about them.

Reminds me of my love that made it tumble down and break at the seams. It was his fault and now he is apologizing but telling me that it is still tumbling down hard. But I tell him that if it tumbles then we are through, because I can't take the tumbling anymore. He is the ever living ghost of what once was. But you know what. I am the ever living ghost of what once was too. And I am talking back to his words. He still loves me and he really needs to stop the tumbling down. Time to right the ship. I still love him and he can see this message clearly.
