This shining city built of gold, a far cry from innocence
There's more than meets the eye round here look to the waters of the deep,
A city of evil,
There sat a seven-headed beast, Ten horns raised from his head,
Symbolic woman sits on his throne but hatred strips her and leaves her naked
The Beast and the Harlot.

She's a dwelling place for demons, She's a cage for every unclean spirit
Every filthy bird and makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings,
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

The city dressed in jewels and gold, fine linen, myrrh and pearls,
Her plagues will come all at once as her mourners watch her burn,
Destroyed in an hour,
Merchants and captains of the world, sailors, navigators too,
Will weep and mourn this loss with their sins piled to the sky,
The Beast and the Harlot.

She's a dwelling place for demons, She's a cage for every unclean spirit
Every filthy bird and makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings,
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

The day has come for all us sinners,
If you're not a servant you'll be struck to the ground,
Flee the burning, Greedy city,
Looking back on her to see there's nothin' around.

I don't believe in fairy tales and no one wants to go to hell,
You've made the wrong decision and it's easy to see,
Now if you wanna serve above or be a king below with us,
Your welcome to the city where your future is set, forever.

She's a dwelling place for demons, She's a cage for every unclean spirit
Every filthy bird and makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating, With our kings,
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

She's a dwelling place for demons, She's a cage for every unclean spirit
Every filthy bird and makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating, With our kings,
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

Of course this story is taken from Revelation. There's also a reference to the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah. It's really not surprising at all considering M. Shadows found the name of the band in Gen. 4:24. Many of their songs have biblical references. Just look at Chapter Four. But, besides that, A7X is the greatest band ever to grace this earth.

Actually you're wrong, it means Babylon as Earth defiled by sin--as it is today. We act as evil kings, reveling in our filth and drunkenness, and the harlot represents all the sins of today. Besides, demons don't live in Hell... that's stupid and naive, incongruous with theology. They live here. The bible calls them the kings of earth, and Satan the "...god of this system of things". He also offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world--and could he have if they were not his to offer? In any case, this is not a religious song. AX7 is not a Christian band, they just know that some damn good inspiration comes from the Bible. They said so.

This song is clearly about Revelations and the beast and the harlot mentioned in the bible...i'll even give you the verse so you can verify it faster...Revelations 17:3-5...

I gotta hand it to a7xddict...he basically summed it up right.

anyways, the song really confused me the first several times i looked over the lyrics and listened to the song...but then I read part of Revelations, and the song just basically tells the story of Revelations Chapters 17-19..
I mean it'd be confusing as all hell if you didn't read that part of the Bible before reading these lyrics...but if you take the time to read those three chapters, it pretty much just tells that exactly, except in song form...which makes it a million times less confusing.
So to anyone having trouble understanding the meaning...crack open a Bible...read Revelations 17-19...and then look over the lyrics again.

this is basically just like Avenged Sevenfold's song Chapter Four (which in my opinion is their best song ever)...anyways that song basically just tells the story of Cain and Abel, which is in Chapter Four of Genesis, hence the title of the song.

anyways, it parallels this song cuz this song does the same exact thing, just with Revelations 17-19 instead of Genesis 4. Same overall concept though. I love how A7X puts biblical references into their music...it's amazing how they do it.
