I can't stand the rain
Against my window
Bringing back sweet memories

Hey, window pane
Do you remember
How sweet it used to be

When we was together
Everything was so grand
Now that we've parted
There's just one sound
That I just can't stand

I can't stand the rain
Against my window
Bringing back sweet memories

I can't stand the rain
Against my window
'Cause he's not here with me

Alone with the pillow
Where his head used to lay
I know you've got
Some sweet memories
But like the window
You ain't got nothing to say

I can't stand the rain
Against my window
Bringing back sweet memories

I can't stand the rain
Against my window
Just keeps on haunting me

Hey, rain
Get off my window...

Rain is the most depressing element there is. So my take on this song is, when she's all alone when it rains the memories of her lover (which may have been the the love of her life) come fluddering back. And maybe she used to cuddle or even made love when it would rain. I know when it would rain while I was with my lover there was nothing better than laying in bed,(after being intimate) falling asleep on his chest. And when we broke up I couldn't stand looking out my window at all, especially when it would rain, I had at least 2 dozen shoe boxes stacked against my door wall and the only way I could sleep is if I had a huge pillow next to me that I would cuddle with resembling his chest. Sad but true, she's feeling depressed but only when it rains.

My take on the song is that overcast days with rain make her sad and reminisce on days where she and her lover were together. At the end she tells the rain to get off the windows so she can move on with her life.

I have no idea. It probably means that ann peebles is missing her husband, and whenever it rains, it reminds her of her past, and she becomes sad.
