Albert Collins – Good Fool Is Hard To Find lyrics

My baby came home last night
And she looked at me real cool
She said, "Albert, you ain't nothin' but a overgrown fool,
I'm gonna leave you, gonna leave you behind."
I said,
" Baby I'm gonna tell you, that a good fool is hard to find."

Now, baby if you leave me, it would hurt me to my soul
I just can't understand why baby, any woman could be so cold
But a good fool, a good fool, is hard to find
Take a lesson from me baby
A good fool is hard to find

The last time you left me, I didn't have much to lose
You left me with nothin' woman
But a pair of thin-sole shoe
But a good fool, a good fool is hard to find
Take a lesson from me baby
A good fool is hard to find

Now listen to me baby, I think you should be told
When they made yo' daddy
Somebody went an broke the mold
A good fool, a good fool is hard to find
You take the lesson from me woman
A good fool is hard to find

Here we see the dynamic of the relationship of a man, who has been staying at home and a woman who has been out on the town coming home, probably after partying and drunk. Upon her entry home, she insults the man and announces her intentions to break up. The man suggests that she stop and think before she acts any further because there are few other men willing to tolerate her attitude. The man reminds her that she left him at least one time before and returned to him. He suggests that he is "one of a kind" in his willingness to take her back and take her abuse. Furthermore, he admits that even with her bad attitude and habits, he still would feel the loss in the event of her leaving. Note that he tells her last time she left, only had thin sole shoes. This could hint to the fact that she was on his last nerve, yet it was her, not him that left the relationship. (walkin' out, taking nothing but the clothes on his back). Awesome song. This is the epitome of boogie/blues with horns, organ & featuring scorching lead guitar. Are. I. P. Albert collins "ice man" we miss you. It's true, you were one of a kind.
