Here's to us one more toast and then we'll pay the bill
Deep inside both of us can feel the autumn chill
Birds of passage, you and me
We fly instinctively
When the summer's over and the dark clouds hide the sun
Neither you nor I'm to blame when all is said and done
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/abba/when_all_is_said_and_done.html ]
In our lives we have walked some strange and lonely treks
Slightly worn but dignified and not too old for sex
We're still striving for the sky
No taste for humble pie
Thanks for all your generous love and thanks for all the fun
Neither you nor I'm to blame when all is said and done
It's so strange when you're down and lying on the floor
How you rise, shake your head, get up and ask for more
Clear-headed and open-eyed
With nothing left to try
Standing calmly at the crossroads,no desire to run
There's no hurry any more when all is said and done
Standing calmly at the crossroads,no desire to run
There's no hurry any more when all is said and done

This is a song about a husband and wife who didn't weather the storms in life and they gave up easily and they are about to go their separate ways. Sadly, most marriages end this way. Still, there are marriages that will last long for couples who are deeply and genuinely in love with each other.

"neither you nor i'm to blame when all is said and done" sums up the gist of this song. There goes a familne in every relationship in which no one is really to blame, but the spark or magic of the fascination together peeters out--when all is said and done. Perhaps too much is 'said' and too much is 'done'?! We need some mystery and a few missing pieces to keep the love wild and free--to avoid the scenario in which there is "nothing left to try"! Standing at the crossroads deciding what to do, yet there is 'no hurry' as the love has been generous--but something special is still missing--'when all is said and done'! --for nothing can bring back love that is gone--when all is said and done!
