Meaning
I speak some German and have a fair working knowledge of the language. I have also heard songs sung in German and they sound pretty cool in their own right, maybe not quite as sexy as French, but stil they sound good. I like to hear some Christmas songs and church hymns in German. Silent Night is especially nice in German. Of course, being able to understand the words makes it better. Here is the first verse of Silent Night in German: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht, Alles schläft; einsam wacht Nur das traute hochheilige Paar. Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar, Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh! Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!

Meaning
The meaning of this song is evident. Just read the English word interpretation. I fell in love with this song and the lady that made it famous the first time I heard Lucille sing it back in the mid 60s. That gal could sing. And the French wording made it even cooler. Now I don't speak much French for sure, but have to say, it's the most beautiful language going. I listen to Cajun Music and don't know the meaning but still enjoy it. I guess you could sing almost any Country love song in French and it would sound very cool. I don't see any hidden meaning in the words of "The French Song." its meaning I pretty simple and straight forward, which isn't a bad thing for a song. Enjoy the music, why strain your brain?
