Here, Tyler is speaking to God. He is saying that he hasn't come to Him in awhile and he knows he hasn't been the best son of God that he possibly could be. When he talks of the desert of his mind and the lack of life, he is saying that he is searching his mind for thoughts of God and is not finding any. He is failing to find any evidence of faith.
