They've bombed and they've slain
Two of the major belligerents in The Troubles, the Irish Republican Army and the Ulster Defence Association, fought respectively for a unified Irish Republic and for Northern Ireland remaining part of the United Kingdom. Largely a guerrilla war, the Troubles (Na Trioblóidí) lasted roughly from the 1960s to 1998, and divided Northern Ireland between predominantly Catholic Irish Republicans and Protestant Ulster Loyalists.
