The courage that they have to catch all Pokemon will lead them through their goals. If they really want to become a gym leader, they will, if they remember their goals and look back at it to remember not to give up. "Will pull us though" pretty much means that their courage will take them further, they won't give up when they think they're done. If they really want to be that gym leader, they won't give up on it, they'll look back at their goals and they will remember that there's no reason to give up, if you just try.
