Although I won't doubt that the songs refer to zombies, I can't help but feel like the "zombies" are the mindless tools to society turning us into more "zombies". There are more of these ignorant people than there are of us, and to defend ourselves, we have to build our hearts and minds in defense from this world dying from this infectious disease known as the growth of society as we know it today.

Everything below is true, but this song also refers to things we otherwise believe are like the "love of a machine": non-existant, and it is also a call out to the corrupt of this world in darkness to come back to the light. It also refers to Christ's death on the cross for our sake and how we take that for granted without ever stopping to consider the importance of the final sacrifice made by God Himself. The death obsession out of the love He had for others.

@palinpreacher - the sound of a band has nothing to do with the message. The lyrics, and even the name of the band itself are metaphors stating that the devil is a deceivingly appealing figure, and their songs are all about that and how humanity has corrupted itself to a point where we don't even know what is right and wrong. This is all messages to the ignorant, and if you don't understand that, then you are one of the same ignorant people that I and this band want to get rid of. Its not a convert or die type thing, its a convert or be subject to self inflicted insanity. And for the record, these guys have shown a disliking to the abuse of sexuality and alchohol that you speak of in their messages that you so blantly disregard as satanic rambling and deception. I am offended by your ignorance.

This is actually the first tdwp song I ever heard. Or rather played on guitar hero. And now its one of my favorite bands. But more to the point, I think that this song displays the wastefulness of human beings in where they put their time and energy. It has happened to us all, and we've all forgotten whats really important in this now dismally exciting world of ours. "perhaps even the whole-hearted had wished for this" - we have gotten so deeply set into this rut that not even the whole-hearted can remember what it is that really matters. "our youth is lost, a product of the created circumstances"

It's about much more than chaos. It's about the ignorance of the American people and how the words power death and distorted truth is what's between the lines of the government. "If we're the flagship of peace and prosperity We're taking on water and about to f*****g sink No one seems to notice, no one even blinks The crew all left the passengers to die under the sea. " Don't you see? They're taking all the power of the people, luring us into a false sense of security and then leaving us to rot and become so dependent on them that they have total control over us! When will this come to an end!?

On one hand we're not so alone as we think, but on the other hand, our lives could mean nothing to the rest of the people. The machine of society tears peoples hearts and souls into pieces, but we are the resistance to this awful machine. And when this is all said and done, the machine tries to eliminate us by judging us. And when we try to relate to one another, we forget who we are and think only of ourselves. We all deceive eachother in some way and nobody knows who to blame for their despair. We acknowledge our mistakes and apologize, but we hardly make anything of it and seem not to even care. We get so sucked into the grasp of society that we lose our individuality. It's true that we get sucked in, but we can't let the machine control us.

We work for what we believe in all our lives in fear that it can be taken from us by "shadows that reach for the stars". In other words, by "progressive" people who will take away others work to fulfill thier own. We're asked to change for ideas we don't belive in and the people who keep us from our own are slowly depleting our life source so that they can overcome us easily while in 'equality' people are just too self centered to realize that they arent the only ones with ideas, or for that case the only ones without faults. Meanwhile, the few people who help others only assist those they first see whereas the people who need it more are "just up the stairs", but they were ignored. The power hungry people feed us lies disguised with ambition in order for us to listen to them and accomplish thier goals and not our own.
