When my father died in 1946, my parents owned a summer cottage on a lake where many of their friends also lived. With 2 young sons to raise alone, I was only 9 months old. My mother was forced to sell the cottage to survive. This song reminds me of the agony she must have felt selling their 'little dream cottage' on a lake. One of the most poignant and sad songs ever written, with meaning for anyone who has suffered a major loss.
