I personally see it as not being about one person but about all the vanity in the world. That's why she says "I bet you think this song is about you, don't you?" It points out all the vanity from the people with that opinion. They see everything as better than what it actually is "You walked into the party, Like you were walking onto a yacht." Always having "one eye on the mirror" just says how much they love themselves.

And of all these things I'm sure of, I'm not quite certain of your love,
You make me scream, and then I made you cry,
When I left that little bird with it's broken leg to die
Still using the "Little bird" as a metaphor for the relationship, she gets upset when he doesn't want it to get better and leaves the relationship to die. It started off broken and could have been saved. When it goes too far however, it just has to end.

If we take this bird in, with it's broken leg,
We could nurse it, she said,
Come inside for a little lie down with me,
And if you fall asleep, it wouldn't be the worst thing.
But when I wake up, and your make up is on my shoulder,
And tell me if I lie down, would you stay now?
Let me hold ya, oh
I see it as the little bird being a metaphor for their relationship. When it gets a bit broken, she's the one who tries to fix it. She wants to make it better.

They're more like tsunami tides in my eyes
Never getting dry, so I get high, smoke in the days then I sleep with the light
He's very upset and does miss her. He used to miss her a lot less than he does now and the way he feels at the moment needs drugs to make the pain stop. He cries about her "tsunami tides in my eyes, Never getting dry" and floods of emotion overwhelm him.
