Meaning
Shosholoza is a Zulu word meaning "go forward" or "give way to the next," and also recalls the onomatopoeia that produces the steam train (Stimela) spoken of in the song. Although its current use at sporting events would suggest, Shosholoza was not originally a happy song or victory. The workers sang the Rhodesian way to the mines of the Transvaal (now referred to South Africa is often used instead of Rhodesia). It has given its name to both the Team Shosholoza, the first African boat competing in the America's Cup, and the Shosholoza Meyl, the long-distance train passengers operating in South Africa. From Wikipedia. Btw, I love this song!
