That is the meaning. Before Joe Strummer was in the 101ers he asked all the squatters and musicians he was hanging out with to call him Woody after the great Woody Guthrie. Upon joining the Clash he immediatly changed his name along with his image. When Topper Headon called him Woody one time because to Topper he resembled Woody Wood Pecker, Joe was quoted to say "Dont ever Fucking call me that."
